A watchdog group wants the poultry business to comply with a list of standards for workers in the industry. The state has been directed to repay the one hundred forty six million dollars in principal and interest no later than December thirty first. The law firm had sought Twenty three million dollars. But the law firm that represented them will get a substantially smaller fee as a period court judge ordered the firm be paid about one point seven million dollars for its work. Thousands of state taxpayers will receive refunds on interest accrued on their intended bills taxes. Some companies may have to heighten smokestacks cut operating hours or buy more land to keep pollution away from neighbors. The head of the state's air toxics program says it would be very damaging to leave the state with no health based controls over the largest emitters in the state in order to comply with state air pollution limits.
